Bristol BMX Club would like to say a huge thank you to AVIVA, John Lewis and Patchway Town Council for their generous donations to the club. Without these organisations supporting us, we would be unable to progress with improvements and plans we have for 2013. Thank you so much on behalf of all our members, volunteers and the committee.
£500 kindly donated by AVIVA Insurance UK.This award of £500 from Aviva Insurance UK is entitled the “Community Sports award”. The company awards 10 sports groups every 3-months and is a one-time only grant. The Money must be used to purchase equipment or to maintain the facility. Huge thanks extended to Andy Shortman who applied for the award with the help of Sue and Pat. Andy’s son Ben has been racing at the club for a few years. It is aimed at grass roots level sports clubs, but they must also be recognised by sport England. Aviva has been sponsoring UK athletics for 13 years. Thanks Andy – without your suggestion and time, this would not have happened.
£708 kindly donated by John Lewis, Cribbs Causeway through their Working with the Community blue token scheme. The public were able to decide which of 3 good causes should receive a 60% share of the funds with the remaining 2 causes each getting 20%. When customers purchased any item from the Place to Eat or Espresso Bar, they were offered a blue token. They then had to place the token in the corresponding section of the Community Works box that they felt deserved the donation. Our thanks are extended to Tash Edwards who set this up with the store.
The cheque from John Lewis being presented to our Chairman Dave Hodge.
£500 kindly donated by Patchway Town Council. The club has been involved with the Council for many years. More recently Sue & Phil Trevascus have attended many meetings to re-establish the relationship and see whether the club might qualify for any grants. Attending the meetings has certainly helped and has developed in to a really good partnership and exchange of information. To date we’ve received approximatley £3,000 in yearly £500 grants from the Council. Money that’s been well spent on track maintenance this year.
Bristol BMX has been awarded a £200 donation from GKN Aerospace Filton as part of their Charity Community Support Programme. This donation will go towards continued facility improvements and everyone at Bristol BMX would like to express their gratitude for this support, it’s very much appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you to everyone who donated a prize for our 2011 regional raffle. We were totally over-whelmed by everyone’s generosity and on behalf of all our members, the kids and Mums and Dads at the Bristol club, we say a huge thank you. In return, it would be great if all our members and visitors to the track could support these businesses that kindly donated such a large selection of brilliant prizes.
